ENHYPEN
ENHYPEN is a 7-member boygroup formed by BELIFT (a BigHit Label) through the survival show I-LAND. The show aired on June 26th, 2020 and followed the intense training of 23 trainees from various labels, competing to be one of the 7 who would debut. I-LAND consists of two parts, Part 1 with 23 participants and Part 2 with the 12 chosen by producers and global voting. In Part 1 the trainees went through various tests in the end of which they voted for other participants to be sent to GROUND. Trainees who were in GROUND had no chance of debut and those remaining in GROUND at the end of Part 1 were eliminated from the show. The 10 trainees who got eliminated after Part 1 are Seon, Jaeho, Jaebeom, Jimin, Youngbin, Nicholas, EJ, Sungchul, Taeyong and Kyungmin. Yoonwon withdrew from the program before the final episode of Part 1 due to a leg injury. The 12 remaining trainees in Part 2 were K, Hanbin, Geonu, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, Taki, Niki and Daniel. During Part 2 the 12 remaining trainees fought to be in the Top 7 (also referred to as “The Safe Zone”) who would debut. In the Final episode of I-LAND, which aired LIVE on September 18th, 2020, the final lineup was announced and the group now officially consists of participants Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon and Niki. The official fandom name voting will start September 20th, 2020 and the group is rumoured to debut in November 2020.

Heeseung showed impressive leadership throughout the program and got chosen as leader on numerous occasions. He has been a trainee for 3 years and 1 month and even trained alongside TXT in BigHit. He can rap and produce and said he wants to do that in the final group. He is very outgoing and funny and everyone looked up to him in the show for his skills.

He has been a trainee for 2 years and 11 months. He managed to coin the iconic I-LAND phrase during Part 1 - RAS (Resentment, Anger, Shame). Due to his very stubborn personality he always finds himself in embarrassing situations, but handles them very well and has just learned to laugh at the past. He has shown his capabilities as a rapper and dancer and makes a great leader as well. He is very good at giving feedback on others’ work and judging their abilities and effectively utilised that skill by helping his teammates choose positions that could give them a great opportunity to showcase their best sides.

Jake has the shortest training period of 9 months. The producers were afraid he’d be behind others due to this, but he effectively proved that he can, in fact, make it as an idol. The producers commented that he has grown the most during the program and is now a very good vocalist. He was born in Australia and thus has a very cute Australian accent.
